Please use the printable NUS Campus Map as a guide: http://www.nus.edu.sg/campusmap

You can also print magnified versions of the relevant areas of interest to you.

The few relevant places on campus: Institute for Mathematical Sciences (IMS), Department of Mathematics (Block S14), Visitors's Lodge, Eusoff Hall, Temasek Hall, King Edwards VII Hall are respectively in sections D6, B5, C3, F2, F3, D6 of the map.

(1) How to get to NUS from the Airport (if you stay in campus):

Option 1: Take a taxi to the NUS. You may need to show the driver the Campus Map for the exact location where you would be staying. This is the best option as taxi fares are inexpensive. You will not save very much money using option 2. The cost of a taxi ride to NUS is not more than S$25.

Option 2: This is NOT recommended if you are visiting us for the first time. Take the subway (called Mass Rapid Transit or MRT in short) from the Airport to Clementi MRT station. Go to Clementi Bus Interchange just outside the MRT station and take bus no. 96 to NUS. Alight at the bus stops along Kent Ridge Crescent (either the one in C2 or C3 on the Campus Map) inside the University. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the Clementi MRT station.

(2) How to get to your hotel from the Airport (if you stay off campus):

Option 1: Take a taxi to the hotel. This is the most convenient way, since taxi fares are relatively inexpensive. Cost is usually not more than S$25.

Option 2: Take the Airport Shuttle (look out for the Airport Shuttle signages in the Arrival Hall, where there is a service counter) which will drop you at most hotels in downtown Singapore. The Service runs from 9:00am to 11:00pm daily, and the cost is $7.00 (pay cash to the driver). It takes about 40 minuets for the Airport Shuttle to bring you to Corthorne Orchid Hotel, for example.

(3) How to get to IMS (if you stay on campus):

A number of Internal Shuttle Services ply along the main roads of the University and they are FREE. The one most convenient for IMS is the Service A, which has two directions A1 and A2. Both directions A1 and A2 bring you to the IMS (one is clockwise and the other is counterclockwise). Take A1 or A2 to the Prince George's Park Bus Terminal (see section D6, Campus Map). The IMS is only a short walk away. It is the second bungalow (No. 3 Prince George's Park) as you walk away from the Prince George's Park Student Housing (these are several blocks of high-rise), along the road.

(4) How to get to NUS (and then to IMS) from Corthorne Orchid Hotel:

Take Bus 151, alight at Yusof Ishak House (section C3, Campus Map). Then take Internal Shuttle Service A1 to the Prince George's Park Bus Terminal. See section D6, Campus Map. The IMS is only a short walk away. It is the second bungalow (No. 3 Prince George's Park) as you walk away from the Prince George抯 Park Student Housing (these are several blocks of high-rise buildings), along the road.

(5) How to get to the Department of Mathematics:

At times, you may want to drop in at the Department for talks and other activities. The Department of Mathematics is at Block S14, and is served by Services A1 or A2. The most convenient stop is the bus-stop just outside Lecture Theatre 27 (LT27 on the map), opposite the School of Computing at B6. The Mathematics Block just faces the large field, along Lower Kent Ridge Road, and is a block away.

(6) How to get to the City

The fastest way to the city is by the MRT. So look at Option 2 in our instructions from the Airport to NUS: You need to go to any of the bus-stops along Kent Ridge Crescent. Take bus number 96 to the Clementi MRT Station. Alternatively you may take bus number 95 (near the School of Computing) to the Buona Vista MRT Station. The MRT will bring you to various parts of Singapore. Remember to pick some guides from the Airport as you leave the Arrival Lounge. These guides will provide plenty of information (the IMS should have some spare copies too). We will also arrange for some activities every week, and we shall keep you posted.

(7) Eating on Campus

There are many eating places on campus, marked by the usual legend (fork and spoon) on the Campus Map. There is a convenient Food Court in Prince George's Park Student Housing selling many varieties of food in an air-conditioned setting, just a short walk away from the IMS. In addition, each hall (Eusoff Hall, Temasek Hall, King Edwards VII Hall, etc.) has a canteen inside. There is also a large canteen near to the Department of Mathematics.

(8) Important Remark

Tipping is not encouraged in Singapore!
